HODGEMAN COUNTY USD 227 ATTENDANCE AT SCHOOL ACTIVITIES GUIDELINES 2020-21 SCHOOL YEAR

Hodgeman Co. is excited to have activities for students starting this fall. However, we must be proactive and prepared during these ever-changing times to help keep students involved in activities throughout the year. As a result, the following guidelines have been implemented to keep our students participating and to make attendance at activities as safe as possible. State, County, and KSHSAA guidelines continue to change regularly, so these guidelines may have to change in the future as well, especially if there is an outbreak of COVID-19 in the community.

1. Coaches and sponsors in Hodgeman Co. Schools will work to follow KSHSAA recommendations for all sports and activities throughout the year.

2.  To help with physical distancing at activities, the district may mark off areas in seating sections that are not to be used to help accomplish appropriate distancing.

3. Visiting teams are encouraged to only have immediate family members and necessary staff attend contests but will need to follow other guidance established by the Hodgeman Co. School District. Families and schools are encouraged to sit in clusters when they attend activities in person.

4. While Hodgeman Co. loves the support the community provides for activities, this year community members may wish to not attend in person. This would help keep the crowds smaller, which would help with appropriate distancing.

5. The district hopes to have some live streaming of events, so the community will still be able to watch many of the home events in their own homes.

7. Essential personnel will only be allowed on the field/court.

8. No pre or post-game fan gatherings on the field/court or other places within the school facilities.

9. There will be modified pre and post-game sportsmanship; no pre or post game handshakes will take place.

10. At football games, community members are encouraged to park around the bowl of the field to view games from their vehicles or even set out lawn chairs. Families are asked to sit in clusters.

11. Masks are permissible and recommended for all spectators at outdoor events, especially where social distancing cannot be maintained.

      • Examples: concession lines and area, entry, restrooms, spectators closely seated in the grandstands, etc.…

12. Everyone attending an indoor event will be encouraged to wear a mask and to sit in family clusters. This is to reduce exposure to the COVID-19 virus especially due to larger crowds in enclosed spaces. Temperatures will be checked and anyone with a 100 degree or higher reading will be rechecked with a hand held device.

13. Managers, workers, and staff helping to run events are expected to wear masks unless the job makes it impossible to do so.

14. There will be normal gate fees at this time to all activities sponsored by KSHSAA. Programs may be obtained on your mobile phone using the camera or scanner options.

15. Concessions for all activities will be limited.

For away activities, we will follow the guidelines of the school hosting and share those guidelines with our patrons as they are shared with us.
